Samantha Warhurst is a soprano and doctor at Christchurch Hospital. She has an extensive experience as an opera singer, performing in multiple productions in NZ and Australia as well as over 50 weddings, funerals, charity concerts and corporate events.

 

As a child, she performed regularly with the Sydney Children’s Choir in events such as the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony and concerts at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.  As a soprano soloist she has performed with the National Youth Opera and in Opera by Candleight in many well-loved operatic roles such as Pamina and Papagena (The Magic Flute), Carmen (Carmen) and Genevieve (an adaption of The Merry Widow). She also performs regularly with her good friend, Samantha Joseph in concerts for flute and soprano around Sydney. Samantha has won a number of prizes in operatic aria, operatic duet, musical comedy and art song sections of the Sydney Eisteddfod and other local competitions.

 

Samantha is currently learning from Glenn Winslade and regularly has coaching with Sharolyn Kimmorley as part of the Christchurch Opera Club.

 

In September 2015, Samantha released her debut album, together with the stunning Samantha Joseph (flute) and Glenn Amer (piano). The CD, entitled 'Songs of Love and Passion' can be purchased via the contact page or on iTunes.
